Slating

Installation and repair of natural and man-made slates, including Welsh slate. We undertake full re-slates, partial repairs and slate matching for older properties.

Natural slate offers exceptional longevity, with many Welsh slate roofs lasting well over 100 years when properly maintained. We work with various slate sizes and specifications to suit different architectural styles and exposure conditions.

Man-made slates provide a cost-effective alternative with excellent weather resistance and typically 30-50 year lifespans. These products suit both new builds and refurbishment projects where budget considerations are important.

Our slating work follows BS 5534:2014+A2:2018 standards for fixing specifications, wind resistance calculations and underlayment requirements. This ensures your roof meets current building regulations and performs reliably in all weather conditions.

Tiling

Concrete, clay and traditional peg tiles installed for new roofs, refurbishments and heritage projects. We also provide ongoing maintenance and storm damage repairs.

Concrete tiles offer excellent value with 40-60 year lifespans and minimal maintenance requirements. Modern interlocking designs provide superior wind and rain resistance compared to older tile systems.

Clay tiles bring traditional aesthetics with outstanding durability – properly installed clay tile roofs commonly exceed 60 years. We supply handmade and machine-made options for conservation work and new builds.

Traditional peg tiles suit period properties and conservation areas where authentic detailing is required. We source reclaimed and new peg tiles to match existing roofs or recreate historical appearance.

All tiling work incorporates mechanical fixing systems where required by exposure conditions and current standards. This includes dry verge and ridge systems that eliminate mortar bedding for improved durability and weather performance.

Leadwork

High-quality lead flashings, valleys, gutters and detailing carried out to recognised industry standards for long-term performance.

Lead remains the premium choice for pitched roof detailing due to its malleability, durability and thermal movement properties. Properly installed leadwork commonly lasts 60-100 years with minimal maintenance.

We work to British Standard specifications for lead codes (thickness), welding, bossing and fixing methods. Lead dressed with traditional skills provides weathertight detailing that accommodates building movement without failure.

All pitched roofing works are carried out in accordance with current building regulations and best practice. We liaise with Building Control where required and provide all necessary certification for insurance and property transactions.

When to consider roof repairs versus replacement

Minor repairs often suffice for:
